Application of silica sol on refractory materials

   Silica sol is widely used in the refractory industry as a silicate refractory fiber, refractory insulation brick, acid-base cement binder, etc.

   The slab corundum is used as the aggregate and the mullite is the combined phase. The mullite and corundum refractory materials are prepared by the reaction sintering process. The SiO2 micropowder is used as the silicon source for the synthesis of mullite, and the silica sol is introduced. It replaces SiO2 micropowder and aims to improve the mechanical properties of multiphase refractories. The results show that the introduction of silica sol can promote the synthesis of mullite, make the microstructure more uniform and compact, and significantly improve the material strength and high temperature creep resistance. 1550 ° C When calcined, the sample prepared by replacing 4% (mass fraction, the same below) SiO2 micropowder as silicon source with silica sol is better than the sample prepared by using SiO2 micropowder as silicon source, and the flexural strength at room temperature and high temperature is increased by 40.16% and 29.92%, respectively. The load-deformation test results show that the mullite and corundum refractory materials are progressively fractured at room temperature, and the silica sol is introduced to a certain extent.
